Haha. Definitely good advice.
My experience is that if you want to blend in, don't try to bring your own stuff. Buy it when you get there.
It took me a couple months to begin to be able to pass for Korean (especially in winter, when hats hide my blonde hair), but I've got the hang of it now, I think. I don't particularly care for most of their fashion, but it cuts down on the amount of "WAYGOOKIN!!!11!" (foreigner) that I hear on the street.
