Stuck in the AZ

Just today I was emailing with a friend from DC and telling her one of the things I really like about Baku is its airport. We can get to Istanbul in 3 hours, Dubai in 4, Paris in 5, and to a host of other international cities.

But it turns out I may have spoken to soon. Most of the flights in and out of places like Baku are in the wee-hours of the morning. If a flight leaves Europe at a decent hour, you are most likely going to arrive in Baku long after you should be asleep.

But now, the powers that be have decided to shut down the airport between the hours of 12am and 7am, effectively terminating flights to Frankfurt (how we get home), London (our alternate way home), Riga (on the top of my vacation list spots), and several other destinations.

I may just never be able to leave.

I've heard this news too. I'm curious to see how it all plays out.

Maybe they will come up with a schedule that works not only for bats but for humans as well? In any case, one thing for sure, ticket prices will go up.
